“’Save Environment”, “Save the Planet”,” Go Green” are the slogans raised by several NGOs, Private and Public sector Enterprises, and Govt bodies.
All the World leaders are realizing that they have to initiate people’s movement against Global Warming, which is indicated by increase in the temperature between 2 degree Celsius to 5 degree Celsius for cooling the Earth.
The causes are diminishing forest cover, conversion of Agricultural land for construction of huge buildings, multiplexes etc.
The diminishing forests have resulted in extinction of several species of flora and fauna. So Food web is damaged.Soil erosion, heavy flooding during rains, increase in day temperature, unseasonal rains, depletion of water resources are some of the side effects.
Conversion of Agricultural land for construction has depleted food production, and agricultural, dairy products are becoming scarce and insufficient.
This scenario has resulted in THIRST and HUNGER of all the living beings of this planet. One day people may die of Hunger and Thirst and it is a threat for the planet and a challenge to mankind.
On the individual and collective level “Recycling of water” should be practiced. The Government should take proper steps to recycle waste and drainage water, harvesting rain water during rainy season. Waste Water treatment plants and Rain water harvesting methods should reach the common man and should be made compulsory for skyscrapers and small buildings.
The multistoried buildings, the sky scrapers, shopping complexes, have not taken into notice the large area which is going waste on the roof top. Many types of organic farming and agricultural activities can be undertaken using modern technologies and adopting tissue culture methods should be initiated.
The bio waste will serve as renewable energy source. Innovation of technology in power generation is such that energy can be generated easily in every building and the Govt can liberalize policies of Energy Generation.
Small and Medium Enterprises of Energy and Power sector can develop improved versions of machineries, technologies, equipments that are cost effective and easily maintainable should also be initiated.
These methods should be able to contain Thirst and Hunger of the humanity, bring down the heat of the Earth, and slow down Global Warming.
