Organic food is the product of Organic Farming. Organic Farming involves the use of green manure, compost and biological pest control. Chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and fungicides are not used for cultivation of crops. Organic Farming requires less energy and produces less waste. It is a sustainable farming technique because water and air pollution are avoided. It is eco-friendly because it nourishes the soil, water, local terrestrial and aquatic life. The production cost of organic food is very less as the bio-degradable waste is recycled as fertilizer. Therefore, it has a high yield of agricultural produce.

It is a very safe agricultural practice. There is no risk involved to the health of the agricultural workers as chemicals are not used. Organic foods are produced by environmentally safe methods. They are free from artificial food ripening agents, food additives, genetically modified ingredients, and irradiation techniques.

There are numerous Benefits of Organic Foods. They are very tasty. Grapes produced by organic farming are sweeter than the grapes produced by Chemical Farming. They retain their natural flavor and aroma. This is because chemical fertilizers are not used.

They have a high nutritive value. In organic Citrus fruits Vitamin C is more. They also contain double the quantity of flavonoids, an important antioxidant. Organic Chikku contain more antioxidants than the normal chikku.

Organic Food contains lower agrochemical residue because no chemicals are used. So less carbon is released into the atmosphere. There is a substantial reduction of Green House Gases in the atmosphere. In other words, Organic Foods reduce the effect of Global Warming.

The shelf life of Organic Food is longer. The quality and the nutrient value last longer. They do not require refrigeration. Hence the cost of energy for storing is negligible. They do not require special packing. So cost of packaging is reduced.

Both animals and human beings can safely consume the produce without any side effects. There will be no food related health problems like, Intestinal infection, GERD, Obesity, Hormonal Problems, Diabetes, Cancer etc. Organic Food bless us with GOOD HEALTH. After all, HEALTH is WEALTH.
