We all
know about Thomas Alva Edison, the inventor of electric bulb. The entire world
would have been in dark today, but for him. As a child, he did not have formal
education because of his poor family background, physical deformity and
learning difficulties. He had to work and earn his living right from his young
age.He earned his income by selling newspapers on the road, vegetables and doing
odd jobs.
When
he got the assignment of selling news papers in the train, he had set up a
small laboratory in a compartment and started conducting his experiments. Once
when the entire compartment was ablaze, the railway authorities stopped him
from conducting experiments in the train. This did not prevent him from
inventing the electric bulb. He could reach his goal because he was a self
determined and self motivated individual.
Young
Edison was a self driven individual. He had tremendous inner fire to achieve.
He worked hard to reach his goal. Poverty or lack of laboratory equipments did
not stop him from achieveing his goal. He has not only invented Electric bulb
but he has also invented phonograph,
kinetoscope, dictaphone, carbon microphone etc. Lack of schooling and
proper facilities did not deter young Edison from inventing all these. He was an
person with tremendous inner fire and had immense self-confidence in what he
was doing. The invention of electric bulb is not just technological product but
a product of his self motivation.
Self
Motivation is the personal and the inner drive to succeed. It is the inner
force or fire within the mind that keeps the individual pushing towards his
goal, however difficult may be the task. Self motivation is a positive attitude
which will help up us to excel in life. When we motivate ourselves positive
thinking predominates and we display the strength of character and we complete
our task with enthusiasm. Self motivation is inciting oneself to thinking and
action.
We

us happy and helps us to deal correctly with all the people and the problems
around us. We should shed negative attitude. If we have negative attitude, we
attract negative energy. Our mind and body becomes weak if we have negative
energy. Negative energy will not allow us to undertake any task and will not
help us to reach our goal.
Students
need to be self- motivated to study, learn and to excel in life. The economic
status and the social status should not come in the way of studying and
achieving. A student is learning for himself first. Then comes the examinations
and the job. Students should be clear about the goals they have to achieve. They should find out the ways
and means of achieving it. They should put their heart and soul to achieve
their target successfully.
