Does the snake hear music or any sound at all?!?!?!

We have seen snake charmers playing the pipe before the snake. When he plays his pipe, he jerks the pipe up and down.  He swings the pipe forward and backward in front of the snake. The snake raises its head moves its head in rhythm with music.
Does it really love music? No. Not at all.
Snakes do not enjoy any music as they cannot hear. They can feel the vibrations only. The snakes do not have any auditory structure. They have a bony rod called columella auris. This bone has a special structure which helps it to detect the ground vibrations. It cannot detect the sound vibrations in air.
Several experiments were conducted by Prof. Deoras to find out whether snakes detect ground vibrations or vibrations in the air.
He put the snake inside the tin box and played music. When the music made the tin to vibrate snake lifted its head. But there was no response from the snake for air borne music.
Many people think that snake is charmed by music. It cannot hear any sound. But it can only react to vibrations. When the snake charmer hits the ground with his pipe, the snake will move its body only to keep an eye on the moving pipe. However they respond to the music created by the drum because it creates vibrations on the Earth.
Conclusion: Snakes are sensitive to the sound that creates vibrations on the Earth only.
